Memory Allocation

The recommended amount of memory to allocate depends on how much memory your computer has.

If you do not know how much memory your computer has, follow these steps;

Find installed memory on Windows

  1. Open settings.
  2. Go to the System tab.
  3. Go to About (should be at the bottom of the list).
  4. Read Installed RAM (this says it in GB, multiply it by 1000 to get it in MB)

Calculate the optimal allocated amount

If your amount of RAM is 8000 MB or higher, the sweat spot is generally around 6000 MB.

If you want to use the max amount of power out of your computer (only do this when maxing out settings of for example Distant Horizons). You can take 3/4 of your installed amount of memory as allocated memory.
